By Design Abnormal tree glitch?

I have no idea what to call this, I placed a abnormal oak tree sapling and used bone meal, first 2 random trees spawned in different areas around me except the sapling I put, then 9 slabs of smooth quartz placed to the left of the sapling until it finally placed. I Can provide more information if needed through game or pms.
